How it works
Media2Car runs as a regular Android Auto app. The phone is the controller, the head unit is the screen — no extra hardware, no cables beyond the one you already use.
Download the APK, allow the install and activate Media2Car for Android Auto once.
Connect as usual. Media2Car appears in the Android Auto app menu next to your other apps.
Type, search, move the cursor and play media from your phone. The car display shows the result.
Two licensed features · one remote
Everything runs on the Android Auto display you already have. Car Browser and Screen Mirror are the licensed features. The phone touchpad steers the Car Browser; Screen Mirror is operated on the phone itself — or, with a phone on Android 12L+ and a compatible car touchscreen, directly on the head unit.

Open websites, video pages and web services in Media2Car's own Car Browser. Searches, URLs and quick actions come from your phone; the page renders on the car display.
02 · Screen Mirror
Show your phone's screen on the car display. With a phone on Android 12L or later and a compatible car touchscreen you tap, swipe and pinch directly on the head unit; Android 12 mirrors without touch.
03 · Remote Control
Move the cursor, scroll, click, type and control playback with gestures you already know. The display stays clean; the controls stay in your hand.

Direct install · no Play Store
Install the APK directly on your Android phone, check it in the car with the local guided tutorial, then unlock. The whole thing takes a few minutes.
Get the file on your Android phone. If the browser asks whether to keep it, confirm.
Temporarily allow installs from your browser, then install Media2Car like any other app. You can switch the permission off again afterwards.
Open Media2Car and tap “Open guided setup” under “Set up for Android Auto” — the assistant walks you through the confirmation your phone needs.
Connect your phone to the car and start Media2Car from the Android Auto app menu.
Media2Car’s guided setup (step 03) sorts this out on most phones — run it first. As a manual last resort, some phones need the Android Auto developer options once: open the Android Auto settings, tap “Version” ten times, open the ⋮ menu, then “Developer settings”, enable “Unknown sources”, then reconnect.
Run the local guided tutorial to check the car connection and display. Then open License → Check & buy on your phone. After the device check succeeds, continue to the €9.99 checkout. Media2Car emails you an activation link; open it on your phone within 24 hours, or request a fresh link under License → Already bought?

An Android phone running Android 12 or later, plus a vehicle or head unit with Android Auto. The app checks the phone’s required security support before checkout; the Android version alone does not guarantee support. Touch mirroring requires Android 12L or later; Android 12 supports visual mirroring.

After Stripe checkout, Media2Car emails you an activation link (sender “Media2Car” — check spam if it is not there within a few minutes). Open it on the phone that has Media2Car installed within 24 hours and the license activates there. If the link opens in a browser instead, open Media2Car → License → Already bought? → Activation details and paste the link or the one-time token from the email. Expired? Request a fresh link from the same place.
Browser and screen-mirroring features are not supported for projected Android Auto through the Play Store. Media2Car is therefore distributed directly as an APK from media2car.com.
Touch control needs a phone on Android 12L or later and a one-time approval in Android's Accessibility settings; after that it runs automatically for every Screen Mirror session. On Android 13 and later the switch is often greyed out the first time (“Restricted setting”): open App info → ⋮ → Allow restricted settings, then enable it — Media2Car walks you through exactly this. Android 12 mirrors without touch.
No. Browsing, video and screen mirroring are intended only for use while parked or by passengers. Always follow local laws and regulations.
Your license is linked to one active device. Restore it on a new phone with your purchase email (License → Already bought?); at most one device switch per 7 days.
Yes. Media2Car checks for new releases inside the app and directs you to the latest APK download on media2car.com.
